Welcome to Slatter & Swan, a railway photography website. On this website, we hope to showcase a variety of photographs from across the south, covering passenger units to regular freight flows to all kinds of unusual workings and movements. This can only be done with the kind help of those who provide 'gen' through the various Yahoo! groups etc. so a big thank you to all!
Currently, both John and Olly use Canon EOS 450D digital cameras, and the accompanying kit lens; Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS. John previously used a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens, but as he was not happy with its performance 'in the field', he switched to a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS lens, which is the same lens as Olly uses. More recently, Olly has also acquired a prime Cannon EF 50mm f1.4 USM lens.

"I've been interested in trains since I was born really, although I was more interested in model trains and then virtual train simulations before actually going out to see the real thing. Having bought a digital camera in late 2006 and finally getting out and about and taking photographs at the start of 2007, I have been taking photos of the railways ever since! Whilst a times it can seem pointless (or so the general public think) and disappointing, it is worth it for the moments when everything goes right for once!"

"Strangely enough I've followed the same pattern as John with Railways. I've cabbed various locomotives, and had plenty of haulage (particulary the final 47s out of Paddington, XC and FGW). I now focus mainly on railway photography, after focusing on railway videos through 2007, and have had images published on The Railway Center. I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures on here, happy surfing!"
